India turned net importer for steel in July – for the first time this fiscal – with 5,87,000 tonnes coming in, a report of the Steel Ministry, accessed by businessline shows. Exports for the month were 5,13,000 tonnes. While imports and exports both increased over 30 per cent YoY, lower priced offerings coming in, mostly from China, and slowing down in export offers led to the difference.
