‘Rohit ka stunt double’: Shoaib Akhtar’s jibe at India skipper | Cricket News

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on Thursday hit out at Rohit Sharma, saying that Shaheen Shah Afridi has been subconsciously sitting in his mind and has forced the India skipper to do things that are not even required.
Akhrar’s comments came after India’s troubled outing against Pakistan where the top-order crumbled like a pack of cards. Pacer Shaheen wreaked havoc with the new ball dismissing star batters Rohit (11) and Virat Kohli (4) cheaply.
In an attempt to counter Shaheen, Rohit, in India’s first Asia Cup match, was seen batting with an open stance. Despite that, Shaheen managed to knock over Rohit early in the contest.
Akhtar lashed out at Rohit for his change in tactics against Shaheen went on to say that Rohit didn’t look anything like himself.
“Yeh Rohit Sharma woh Rohit Sharma hai hi nahi. Yeh uska stunt double hai. Shaheen uske dimaag mein baith gaya hai. (This is not the same Rohit Sharma. This one’s a stunt double. Shaheen has conquered his mind). I have never seen him change his stance, but what was happening there? Stance change kara, beat hua, bowled hua (He changed his stance and got bowled). Shaheen is subconsciously in his mind. This is what pressure of IND vs PAK match does to players,” Shoaib Akhtar said on a Star Sports show.
The contest was eventually washed out due rain but exposed India’s top-order woes.
Rohit (74 not out) however did manage some much-needed runs in the second game against Nepal which India won by 10 wickets.
