The young archer from Satara had already made her mark in the archery world by winning the Under-18 title in the Youth Championships held in Limerick back in July.
Now, she has added another illustrious accolade to her name by claiming victory at the senior level.
In the thrilling final match, Aditi displayed remarkable composure and skill, shooting a near-perfect score of 149 out of a possible 150 points. Her precision and focus were evident as she outperformed the 16th seed Andrea Becerra, who had previously knocked out the reigning champion Sara Lopez in the pre-quarterfinals.
Aditi gained an early advantage in the match, taking a one-point lead in the first round by drilling in all her first three arrows closer to the centre (X). Her accuracy continued throughout the competition, and she managed to extend her lead by three points in the first four rounds.
Although she shot one 9 out of the three arrows in the final end, Aditi had already secured India’s second World Championship gold. Her victory marks a significant milestone in her young career and cements her position as a rising star in the world of archery.
Prior to her solo success, Aditi, along with Parneet Kaur and Jyothi Surekha Vennam, had secured India’s first-ever World Archery Championships gold by triumphing in the compound women’s team final on the preceding day.
The semifinal match saw a remarkable all-Indian clash between Aditi and her idol, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, the most successful Indian compound archer. Aditi showcased her prowess by defeating Jyothi 149-145 to reach the final. Nonetheless, Jyothi managed to secure a bronze medal in the third-place play-off against Ipek Tomruk of Turkey, shooting a perfect 150.
