Virat Kohli becomes second Indian player after Azharuddin for this record | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli may have had a bad start to the Asia Cup match against Nepal as a fielder on Monday but he quickly made amends for his mistake by taking a one-handed stunner.
With this take, Kohli also became only the second Indian player after Mohammad Azharuddin to complete 100 catches as a non keeper in multi-nation tournaments.

Kohli, who dropped opener Aasif Sheikh in the second over on the bowling of Mohammed Siraj, came up with a brilliant effort as he jumped over his head and grabbed a one-handed catch at short cover to dismiss the same batter and so was the bowler.
Sheikh played a patient knock of 58 off 97 balls with the help of 8 fours.
Moreover, Kohli is on the fourth position in the all-time list of most catches in ODIs with an impressive tally of 143 catches. He holds the record for the highest number of catches in ODIs and T20Is among currently active players.

Earlier in the day, India came up with their one of the worst fielding efforts in the recent past by putting down three regulation catches in the span of 20 balls.
However, India made a comeback with Ravindra Jadeja triggering a collapse with three quick wickets, removing Bhim Sharki (7), captain Rohit Paudel (5), and Kushal Malla (2).
