Donald Trump: Trump gets a nickname: Donald Duck

[ad_1]

As of now, the second Republican presidential debate for all practical purposes is about who gets to hold on to the second position. Former US President Donald Trump is far ahead of his rivals and no wonder he has skipped both debates so far.
But Trump was looming large over the second GOP presidential debate. It was former New Jersey governor Chris Christie who used his first answer of the debate to attack Donald Trump.
Former ally Christie, who distanced himself from Trump due to the latter’s denial of the election results, bestowed this nickname upon the Republican front-runner, who was notably absent from the debate.
Addressing the camera directly, Christie remarked, “I’m aware you’re watching because you just can’t resist.” He went on to accuse Trump of avoiding the debate out of fear of defending his record on the stage.
Christie said: “And you’re not here tonight. Not because of polls, and not because of your indictments. You’re not here tonight because you’re afraid of being on the stage and defending your record. You’re ducking these things. And let me tell you what’s going to happen. You keep doing that, no one up here is gonna call you Donald Trump anymore. We’re gonna call you Donald Duck.”
Florida governor Ron DeSantis also took a dig at Trump in the debate.
“And you know who is missing in action? Donald Trump is missing in action,” DeSantis said, blasting the former president for skipping the debate.
The 7 candidates participating in Wednesday’s debate include: Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, Florida governor Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, North Dakota governor Doug Burgum, Former Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina.
