‘This is for people, who live off this cr*p’: Wasim Akram on wide controversy | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli‘s 48th ODI century was apparently a huge talking point in India’s easy seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup match in Pune.
But more than that, one incident that caught everyone’s attention was umpire Richard Kettleborough‘s decision of not calling Bangladesh’s spinner Nasum Ahmed‘s down leg side delivery wide, with Kohli just three runs away from the hundred.

The former skipper then went on to smash a six over deep mid wicket to complete his ton and India’s win.
Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram also joined the chorus saying the controversy on this is not needed at all and it was a genuine mistake by the umpire, but people who have nothing to do, live off such ‘cr*p’.

“Looks like one of those genuine mistakes [by the umpire]. It was a wide ball for sure. [On the controversy] This is for people who have nothing to do, who live off this cr*p and then they can go nuts with it,” Akram said during a discussion on A Sports.
Kohli faced 97 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes, and this century was his third score in excess of fifty in four innings following contributions of 85 and 55 not out in recent pool wins over Australia and Afghanistan.

Akram also commended Kohli for his remarkable fitness. He highlighted that Kohli had tirelessly fielded for 50 overs in sweltering conditions before emerging to score a century.
“He fielded for 50 overs and after reaching 90 also he was striking the big hits. That shows extreme fitness. This guy is from a different planet,” he added.
