NEW DELHI: Johnson & Johnson Vision has unveiled the first laser vision correction surgeries performed using the new Silk (Smooth Incision Lenticule Keratomileusis) procedure.
The Silk procedure offers new hope for myopia patients, allowing them to achieve clear vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
Burzin Shahana, Country Manager, Surgical Vision India at Johnson & Johnson Vision, emphasized their commitment to advancing refractive error correction and enhancing patient experiences.
“With the launch of the Silk procedure, our goal is to provide surgeons with advanced technologies and designs to deliver a high degree of confidence in correcting refractive errors as well as improvements in surgical experiences and patient outcomes,” Shahana said.
This minimally invasive procedure involves creating a tiny disk-shaped lens, known as a lenticule, within the cornea. This lens (lenticule) is then delicately removed through a microscopic incision, reshaping the cornea to provide patients with flawless vision.
Studies conducted on patients who underwent the Silk procedure revealed impressive results, with 99 per cent of patients expressing satisfaction with the outcome, 98 per cent pleased with the rapid improvement in their vision, and 96 per cent willing to recommend Silk to friends and their family members.
The introduction of the Silk procedure in India marks a remarkable milestone in the realm of eye health, promising improved vision and an enhanced quality of life for myopia patients.
