BENGALURU: Expressing their discontent over the state government’s decision to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, several pro-farmer and pro-Kannada organisations have called for a complete ‘Bengaluru bandh’ on September 26.

Local transport organizations have joined in solidarity with the ongoing agitation, further intensifying the expected impact on normal life in the nation’s prominent IT hub.

Here’s a list of what will remain open and what will remain shut on Tuesday:

What’s open

  • Hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies
  • Govt offices, banks
  • Namma Metro train services
  • Milk booths
  • Petrol bunks
  • App-based taxis

What’s shut

  • Commercial establishments, malls, industries
  • App-based taxis, cabs, bike services, autorickshaws, private transport
  • Street vendors, hotels, restaurants
  • Theatres, multiplexes

Disruption in bus services?
Both BMTC and KSRTC workers’ unions have asked employees not to operate buses. However, transport minister Ramalinga Reddy said, “Operation of buses by BMTC and KSRTC will depend on cooperation of the employees. If they decide to participate in the bandh, there will be disruption in bus services.” But an official statement from BMTC said as per schedule, buses will be operated on Tuesday.

Similarly, BMRCL MD Anjum Parwez said, “Metro services will be operated as per schedule. Metro officials will coordinate with police and further decisions will be taken depending on the situation.”
