NEW DELHI: In a lovely gesture of sportsmanship, Bangladeshi players recalled New Zealand batter Ish Sodhi after running him out at the non striker’s end during the second one-dayer in Dhaka on Saturday.
The commendable gesture from Bangladesh skipper Litton Das and co. came after Hassan Mahmud mankaded Sodhi during the first innings.
The incident took place in the 46th over when Sodhi has found backing up at the non striker’s end and Mahmud removed the bails before delivering the ball to Lockie Ferguson.
Amid the smart work from Mahmud, Sodhi was found outside his crease and the third umpire ruled the dismissal a legitimate run out according to the new rules. As Sodhi sarcastically applauded while going back, Litton had a word with the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus and decided to call back Sodhi.

Making his way back to the crease, a relieved Sodhi, this time had a smile to his face and went on to hug Mahmud.
At the time of the run out Sodhi was batting on 18 and went on to score 35, contributing crucial runs to New Zealand’s final total of 254.
