Sensex, Nifty open lower as profit-taking follows strong macroeconomic data

Indian markets opened lower on Wednesday, as investors engaged in profit-taking near record high levels, despite encouraging macroeconomic data.
The Nifty 50 index had declined by 18.30 points, representing a 0.09% decrease, settling at 19,974.90. Meanwhile, the Sensex was down by 71.07 points, standing at 67,150.06.
Among the notable early gainers in the Nifty were Dr. Reddy’s Labs, ONGC, Divis Labs, Power Grid Corp, and BPCL, while TCS, HDFC Life, Wipro, HCL Technologies, and Adani Ports were among the early losers.
