Chandrababu Arrest: Former Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu arrested in corruption case | Vijayawada News

VIJAYAWADA: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the early hours of Saturday, in connection with the alleged skill development scam case.

The CID has registered the FIR on December 9, 2021, naming 25 persons as accused. Interestingly, Naidu was not named in the FIR as accused. CID claimed that Naidu is being arrested based on the details revealed in the investigation.The CID Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), M Dhanunjayudu served notice to Naidu under 50(1) of CrPC stating that he has been arrested in crime number 29/2021 registered under sections 120(B), 166, 167, 418, 420, 468, 465, 471, 409, 201, 109 read with 34 and 37 of IPC and sections 12, 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)&(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act.

CID sleuths along with the Nandyal district police led by Kurnool range DIG Raghurami Reddy reached the camp site at 3am where Naidu stayed in a bus. Naidu was touring the state as part of the party’s mass contact program ‘Babu Surety – Bhavisyathu ki Guarantee’.

Naidu is being shifted to Vijayawada from Nandyal. Police kept several TDP leaders across the state under house arrest.

Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, who is on a padayatra, was also not allowed to come to Vijayawada. Lokesh is in East Godavari district.
Naidu said that he has not done any mistake. “The police did not show any material to suggest any of my wrong doings. Even the FIR did not have any information.”
Naidu appealed people and party cadre to maintain peace and calm as ultimately justice will prevail.
