Yuzvendra Chahal: ‘An exciting challenge’: Yuzvendra Chahal joins Kent for County Championship | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Yuzvendra Chahal, who was overlooked by national selectors for the ongoing Asia Cup and the next ODI World Cup, has signed with English county club Kent to play three County Championship games.
Chahal is expected to play in Kent’s remaining home games against Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, as well as the away game against Somerset.
“This is an exciting challenge for me, playing in English county cricket, and one I’m very much looking forward to,” Chahal said in a club statement.
He will become the second Indian player to play for the side, following seamer Arshdeep Singh, who appeared in five games for Kent in June-July, taking 13 wickets.

“We’re delighted to have secured a spinner of Yuzvendra’s quality for the last three Championship matches of the season, with Matt Parkinson not available to us until next year, and Hami Qadri recently injured,” club head coach Paul Downton said.
“He is really looking forward to playing in English conditions and will bring a significant amount of skill and international experience to our squad.”
Chahal, who has yet to make his Test debut for India, has played 33 First-Class matches, taking 87 wickets at an average of 35.25, including three four-fors and a handful of fifers (in an innings). His greatest numbers were 6 for 44 in innings and 8 for 112 in games.

In addition to his recent FC appearances, he appeared in two Ranji Trophy matches for Haryana last season, taking three wickets at an average of 92.33.
Kent, on the other hand, is currently in ninth place in Division 1 and fears relegation.
