NEW DELHI: In an embarrassing turn of events for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), a floodlight malfunction caused an unexpected 20-minute stoppage during the Asia Cup Super Fours match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
After Bangladesh was all-out for 193 in 38.4 overs, Pakistan had commenced their chase and were at 15 for no loss in five overs when one of the floodlights on a tower at the stadium suddenly went dark.

The precise cause of the malfunction remained unknown, leaving players and officials puzzled. During the disruption, Pakistan’s openers, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman, engaged in discussions with the umpires as they awaited the issue to be resolved.
Fortunately, after a brief delay, the bulbs on the affected tower were successfully restored to their full luminance. With the resumption of proper lighting, the players returned to the field, and the match resumed.

Before the interruption, the Bangladeshi bowlers had shown promise, with left-arm bowler Shoriful Islam displaying incisive skills. However, the stoppage appeared to disrupt their rhythm, leaving them with a challenging task ahead.
As of now, the PCB has not provided any official clarification regarding the specific cause of the floodlight glitch, leaving fans and cricket enthusiasts eager for an explanation.
