Asia Cup: Injury scare for Pakistan’s Naseem Shah against Bangladesh | Cricket News

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: Pakistan have encountered an injury concern with their fast bowler, Naseem Shah, who appeared to have hurt his left arm during a Super-Four fixture of the Asia Cup against Bangladesh in Lahore on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when Naseem made a full-length dive to his left in an attempt to stop the ball after Bangladesh’s Mohammad Naim flicked it to fine leg off Shaheen Afridi‘s bowling.
Unfortunately, Naseem immediately held his arm in pain following the dive and remained on the ground for a few minutes. The team’s physiotherapist rushed onto the field, and eventually, Naseem walked off the ground.
The extent of Naseem’s injury has yet to be determined, but this development raises concerns for the Pakistan team, especially with a crucial match against arch-rival India approaching on Sunday in Colombo. Furthermore, with the ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled to take place in India the following month, an injury to Naseem could significantly impact Pakistan’s plans.

Naseem has been a valuable asset for Pakistan, performing well with the ball during the ongoing Asia Cup. He is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, having taken five wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 4.29. His best figures of 3 for 36 came against India. Pakistan will be closely monitoring his injury situation as they prepare for upcoming matches.
