NEW DELHI: Thailand spinner Nattaya Boochatham achieved a historic milestone on Monday by becoming the first bowler from an Associate Nation to claim 100 wickets in T20 International (T20I) cricket.
Boochatham achieved this feat during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier match against Kuwait in Bangi, Malaysia. She secured a three-wicket haul in the game, finishing with impressive figures of 3/3, which propelled her to the landmark of 100 wickets in T20Is.

This remarkable achievement solidifies her status as the first player, regardless of gender, from an Associate nation to reach this significant milestone in T20I cricket.
The Thailand off-spinner has been in exceptional form during the Asia Region Qualifier, delivering outstanding performances with figures of 5/5, 2/2, and 3/3 in her last three matches.
Her achievement of reaching 100 wickets in women’s T20 International (T20I) cricket places her in an elite group of bowlers. She joins the ranks of prominent bowlers such as Nida Dar (126) of Pakistan, Anisa Mohammed (125) of the West Indies, Ellyse Perry (123) of Australia, Sophie Devine of New Zealand (110), and Deepti Sharma (110) of India, among others, who have taken 100 or more wickets in women’s T20Is. Megan Schutt of Australia leads the table with 128 wickets.

Remarkably, among bowlers with over 100 women’s T20I wickets, Boochatham stands out with an average of less than 10. She has 101 wickets at an astonishing average of 9.96 and maintains an economy rate of 4.1.
Boochatham also holds the distinction of being the second-fastest to reach 100 wickets in women’s T20Is, accomplishing the feat in just 72 innings. Sophie Ecclestone of England is the only one who achieved this milestone faster, doing so in 71 innings, and she now boasts 112 wickets.
In the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings, Boochatham currently holds the 38th position and is the sole bowler from Thailand ranked in the top 50. Her remarkable performances have solidified her reputation as one of the standout bowlers in women’s T20I cricket.
