NEW DELHI: Reliance Industries on Monday made a significant announcement, appointing Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani as directors to the board of the diversified conglomerate spanning oil and telecommunications.
Preceding the company’s annual general meeting, the Reliance board convened to endorse the appointments of twins Isha and Akash, as well as Anant, as “non-executive directors of the company.” The formal announcement was made through a filing with the stock exchange.
However, Ambani’s wife, Nita Ambani, stepped down from the board, to devote more of her time to the Reliance Foundation charity.
Lat year, the 66-year-old magnate facilitated the transition of his eldest, Akash Ambani, into the role of chairman at India’s largest mobile company, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. Despite this transition, Ambani, however, continued to be the chairman of Jio Platforms, the entity overseeing Reliance Jio Infocomm.
Akash’s counterpart, Isha, aged 31, was assigned a role in Reliance’s retail division, while the youngest among the siblings, Anant, was directed towards the realm of new energy business.
