“The moon as captured by the Lander Imager Camera 4 on August 20, 2023,” Isro said on X.

Earlier today, Isro said that the Chandrayaan-3 mission is on schedule and systems are undergoing regular checks.
“Smooth sailing is continuing. The Mission Operations Complex (MOX) is buzzed with energy & excitement! The live telecast of the landing operations at MOX/ISTRAC begins at 17:20 Hrs. IST on August 23,” Isro said.
“LPDC images assist the Lander Module in determining its position (latitude and longitude) by matching them against an onboard moon reference map,” it added.
Isro also released images of the Moon captured by Lander Position Detection Camera from an altitude of about 70 km on August 19.

Amid nervous excitement that grips Isro teams at control rooms with engineers and scientists double-checking every detail of the mission plan and verifying calculations, Isro Chairman S Somanath exuded confidence of a successful soft-landing tomorrow.

Taking time out ahead of the crucial landing day, Somanath told TOI that the confidence stems from all the preparations ahead of the launch and the hitch-free progress made by the integrated module and the landing module in their journey to Moon.
“We are confident as everything has been all fine so far and there have been no contingencies faced until this juncture. We’ve done all the preparations and all systems have performed as we needed them to until this stage. Now, we are preparing for the landing with multiple simulations, verification and double verification of systems, checking of instruments’ health is being done today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday),” Somanath told TOI.
Chandrayaan-3 is set to land on the moon on August 23 around 6.04pm.
A successful soft landing on the moon will make India only the fourth country in the world to achieve the feat after the United States, Russia and China.
