NEW DELHI: Prithvi Shaw‘s stint with Northamptonshire started on a brilliant note. The 23-year-old batsman scored an impressive total of 429 runs across four innings during the One-Day Cup 2023.
Among his standout performances, he delivered a monumental knock of 244 runs off just 153 balls against Somerset on August 9. This extraordinary feat guided Northants to a commanding 87-run victory.
Unfortunately, Shaw’s remarkable batting spree was abruptly curtailed due to a knee injury he sustained while fielding in the team’s clash against Durham on August 13.
Following subsequent medical examinations, it was confirmed that Shaw will be unable to continue participating in the tournament.
“Prithvi injured his knee while fielding in the fixture against Durham and subsequent scan results received this morning have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected,” the Northamptonshire stated in a media release.
Shaw’s close friend Arjun, son of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, wished him a speedy recovery.
“Stay strong buddy wish you a speedy recovery,” Arjun wrote on his Instagram story.
