Sitanshu Kotak to be head coach for T20I series against Ireland | Cricket News

MUMBAI: Former domestic stalwart Sitanshu Kotak will be India’s head coach for the Ireland tour, as batting great and National Cricket Academy head VVS Laxman, who was earlier supposed to travel with the team, will now oversee a high-performance three-week long camp at Alur near Bangalore.

“Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule (bowling coach) will travel with Jasprit Bumrah & Co for the three-match T20I series (from August 18-23), as Laxman will conduct the high-performance camp from August 16 to September 5, for which youngsters like Abhishek Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Prabhsimran Singh, Sai Sudarshan, Akash Singh, Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Divyansh Saxena have been called up by the BCCI,” a source told TOI.
Kotak, a former Saurashtra batsman, is the India A head coach and batting coach at NCA. The team for Ireland tour will be captained by Bumrah, who is returning from a long injury lay-off.

CCI may host India-Eng women’s Test The historic Brabourne Stadium at the Cricket Club of India is likely to host a women’s Test between India and England in December this year, TOI has learnt.
The Indian women’s team last played a Test—their maiden pink ball Test—in 2021 against Australia at Gold Coast, while the last women’s Test on Indian soil was the India-South Africa game in 2013.
The match ended in a draw. Recently, the Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed a desire to play more Tests. “As a player, I definitely want more Tests because as a growing kid, we saw more Tests on TV than T20s.

Nowadays, it’s a lot of fun playing T20s but Test cricket is something every cricketer wants to play,” Harmanpreet had said. “The Indian women’s team’s home season of international games has been postponed by a couple of months due to the 2023 men’s ODI World Cup. This is the reason why the BCCI is taking time in appointing the head coach of the Indian women’s team.
Starting from December, the Indian women’s team will have a busy time at home, playing England, Australia and New Zealand,” a reliable source said.
