Watch: The most economical 20-ball spell in The Hundred | Cricket News

[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: In a stunning debut, Oval Invincibles fast bowler Spencer Johnson produced the most economical 20-ball effort in The Hundred on Wednesday, claiming three wickets and conceding just one run.

Justifying his selection for the Australia squad for the T20I series in South Africa later this month, the left-arm seamer fired 19 dot balls from a maximum of 20 deliveries as Oval Invincibles defeated Manchester Originals by 94 runs.
Johnson did not concede any run in his first five balls in the Manchester Originals run chase of 187, and gave away only a single to England white-ball captain Jos Buttler in his second set of five deliveries.

In his second spell, the 27-year-old took 3 wickets, that included 2 clean bowled dismissals, as he bowled 10 straight deliveries to the Manchester lower order.
The Hundred shared a video of Johnson’s spell on their official handle.

Johnson’s ability to swing the bowl at high pace is sure to make one and all sit up and notice.
Johnson’s performance even prompted AB de Villiers to come up with a cheeky response.

“Oh no, not another Johnson?!!!good luck guys,” De Villiers tweeted.
The Australia tour of South Africa starts August 30.
