NEW DELHI: The Indian opening pair consisting of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan achieved their highest career rankings in the latest ODI list on Wednesday, setting the stage for the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India, which is less than two months away.

Gill’s impressive performance elevated him by two spots to secure the fifth position overall. He now stands within close reach of the Pakistani trio comprising Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam-ul-Haq.
Although Babar maintains a comfortable lead, Gill’s remarkable showing during the series against the West Indies propelled his rating points to 743. This places him in close proximity to Fakhar (755) at third place and Imam (745) at fourth place.

Kishan also experienced a significant climb, securing a new career-best rating by advancing nine places to occupy the 36th spot in the overall rankings.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya‘s commendable performances against the West Indies led to a noteworthy improvement of 10 places in the batting chart, landing him at the 71st position.
A host of Indian players made big ground in the latest list.
Pandya also rose five places to 11th overall on the list for ODI all-rounders, while it was left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav and underrated seamer Shardul Thakur who made the biggest impression on the rankings for ODI bowlers.
Kuldeep jumped four places to be inside the top-10 at 10th place following his seven wickets in the series against the West Indies, while Thakur — who led both sides with a series-best eight scalps — improved three spots to 30th.
